Carlington Loves Pollinators
Why native plants?
- Most garden centre flowers are hybrids and do not have pollen or nectar, so pollinators have to go elsewhere.
- Plants that are native to a region are adapted to the conditions of that area and will have a greater chance of survival; and
- Native animals, birds and insects have adapted to those plants and they often need each other to survive.
Remember as well, that your garden, whatever its size, does not have to be 100% native plants. You can mix garden plants with native plants however you like, with a minimum of 70% native plants.
