First of all, fall and spring clean-ups are a lot of work. Secondly, by cleaning up your yard in the fall or the spring, you destroy insect habitats. Bees and wasps lay their eggs inside stems, butterflies and butterfly cocoons overwinter in your dead fall leaves, even a small brush pile is insect habitat.
